Jon Dounchis, M.D. is board certified in orthopedic surgery and
sports medicine and has completed 2 years of additional fellowship
training. He specializes in knee, hip and shoulder surgery. Dr.
Dounchis utilizes minimally invasive approaches for joint replacement,
MAKOplasty partial knee surgery with robotic-arm technology, direct
anterior hip replacement, hip resurfacing, computer-assisted and
patient-specific mri-based joint replacement, reverse and total
shoulder replacement, and arthroscopic techniques for cartilage,
tendon, ligament and meniscal/labral repair.
Dounchis has a conservative and personal approach to musculoskeletal
care. He explores both non-surgical and advanced surgical solutions.
The goal is to return his patients to a healthy active life style.
Dounchis received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Harvard
University and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University.
He did his orthopedic residency and a fellowship in cartilage
repair at the University of California. Dr. Dounchis completed
additional fellowship training in joint replacement and arthroscopic
surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. In 2001 he opened his
practice in Naples, Florida. He is a member of the American Academy
of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee
Surgeons, the Florida Medical Association and the Collier County
Medical Society. He has multiple orthopedic publications/presentations,
ongoing research interests and instructs advanced surgical techniques
such as MAKOplasty robotic-arm surgery. Dr. Dounchis is one of the most experienced surgeons with minimally invasive advanced joint replacement techniques.
enjoys tennis, golf, fishing, boating, and hiking with his wife
and three children.
